Debut for British Pool and Hot Tub Conference
Responsible chemical sales and digital services advice was incorporated in a rebranded BISHTA and SPATA annual conference that included an update on the work to provide members with cold water immersion guidance.
Legal advice and updates for members were also delivered during the newly-launched British Pool and Hot Tub Conference that made its debut this month to replace the annual conferences for respective members of BISHTA and SPATA. The two conferences have now been combined as the rebranded joint conference, which was hosted online for members’ convenience.
BISHTA Committee Chair Dorian Davies informed members that cold water immersion guidance was now taking shape. This follows an increase in the development of ice bath and cold water tub products; including the Chilly Goat range by Master Spas that is endorsed by Michael Phelps, pictured, and supplied by BISHTA member The Hot Tub Superstore.
As part of additional updates for BISHTA members, 1 Stop Spas and SpaTech Training chief Chris Brady, who is a member of BISHTA’s Technical Committee, provided a review of the industry standards based on real-world incidents. Along with BISHTA Committee member David Ramsden from Complete Pool Controls, Chris also highlighted to members the benefits of attending industry training.
Member survey feedback, along with conducting the AGM and a Q & A session, was provided by Managing Director of BSPF, BISHTA, and SPATA Chris Hayes, along with Business Development Manager Claire Maguire.
At the start of the conference, which included a wide range of internal and external speakers, Chris Hayes welcomed and thanked members for their attendance. First on the agenda was a digital technology focus during a session from award-winning digital marketing agency Adrak entitled ‘Enhancing your digital services’; which was presented by Xavier Hodgetts and Paul Donohue from the Nottingham-based company that has BISHTA and SPATA member status.
This was followed by professional legal advice from BISHTA and SPATA’s solicitors Wright Hassall during a ‘Guiding you through troubled waters’ session presented by Steven Hayward. Attendees later reconvened for a session by representation from the Home Office on ‘Selling Chemicals Responsibly’, which was presented by Metropolitan Police Sergeant Steve O’Donovan who is currently seconded to the Home Office Explosive Precursor Engagement team in the Homeland Security Group.
The inaugural British Pool and Hot Tub Conference; which included additional contributions by SPATA Technical Committee members Jimmy Lamb, from Aqua Dryden, and Will Dando, from Plastica; was concluded with a BSPF Update from Chris Hayes, and the BSPF AGM, followed by an Open Forum.
.Members who were unable to participate in the newly-named conference have the online capability to view the session video recordings and presentation PDFs in the dedicated Members Hub.
