APSP providing ‘unmissable’ PSP Expo seminar
Guidance for current and prospective retailers on purchasing hot tub businesses is being made available by the Association of Pool & Spa Professionals during an ‘unmissable’ seminar at the International Pool Spa Patio Expo in Florida.
“If someone is considering purchasing a pool or hot tub business they won’t want to miss this APSP presentation,” declared Co-founder and President of The Sterling Advisory Group LLC Rod Stirling; “I will discuss common pitfalls and positive ways to navigate family dynamics during this sensitive purchasing time.”
Once the interactive presentation has finished the participants, who must book in advance for the seminar at www.PoolSpaPatio.com, will have the opportunity to gain answers to the top three questions for a successful purchase. These are: ‘Is the pool and hot tub industry worth investing in?’; ‘What key person should absolutely be involved from the very start of the purchasing decision?’ and ‘Why bother with an independent business valuation?’
The APSP merged last year with the International Hot Tub Association (IHTA) to create a formidable alliance, which has recently been boosted with the appointment of Susan Hilaski in the position of Director of Standards Promotion and Adoption. Susan will focus on the adoption of the International Swimming Pool and Spa Code (ISPSC) that has been written by the APSP and the International Code Council.
Ahead of taking up the post, Susan worked for Fortune 500 companies, trade associations and federal and state agencies, as well as gaining experience as a private consultant.
APSP Senior Director of Technical and Standards Carvin DiGiovanni, who was honoured with the 2014 International Code Council’s (ICC) Affiliate of the Year at the annual conference in Fort Lauderdale in September, has welcomed Susan’s appointment.
“We are happy to have Susan’s knowledge and experience at APSP,” said Carvin; “Her technical background and experience in standards adoption will be key in promoting the adoption of APSP’s ANSI-certified standards.”
APSP President Rich Gottwald, who was part of the merger negotiations with the IHTA shortly after his appointment to the role, revealed that the organisation wants a clear set of regulations and standards that are appropriate for the industry.
“We have developed a lot of standards, and we want to make sure that those are the standards that are incorporated into codes that local municipalities use,” he said.
Opening hours for the International Pool Spa Patio Expo will be 10am to 5pm on November 5 and 6, and 10am to 2pm on the final day, November 7.
The Conference opening hours will be running from 7:30am to 6:30pm today and tomorrow, November 3 and 4; 8am to 5pm, November 5 and 6; and 8am to 9:45am on November 7.
