Cyclists overcome bad weather
Updates by hot tub dealership Caldera Spas Scotland have revealed that members of the epic Lands End to John o’ Groats cycle team in aid of Chloe’s Chemoo Cows were battered by bad weather yesterday.
Mark McNeil, whose daughter tragically passed away at the age of 11 after being diagnosed with an incurable brain tumour, is helping to raise funds and awareness for Chloe’s Chemoo Cows by cycling from Lands End to John o’ Groats with a group of friends Stevie Gilmore, Gary Crombie, David Paterson, Berny Mullin and Gary Hardy.
Over the last four to five months they have been training every weekend for the epic bike ride; which is just as well as during their first day of cycling they had to contend with major hills, while being battered by driving rain and howling winds.
Before the cyclists completed their first leg in Lanlivet in Cornwall yesterday they reported that the pace on day one was slower than they would have liked but considering the weather conditions they progressed well.
Ahead of the cycle event, sponsored by Caldera Spas, Fantasy Spas and Endless Pools dealership Caldera Spas Scotland, Mark divulged that he expected to be in excruciating pain, however it is nothing compared to the pain his daughter Chloe suffered. So when it hurts he said he will dig deep and remember how brave she was and just keep going to complete this mammoth journey
Thankfully, after setting off from St Benet’s Abbey this morning, the weather on the second leg today has not been as bad as expected and the group were in good spirits when they stopped off at North Tamerton before heading for tonight’s destination at The Green Dragon B&B in Somerset.
To keep track of their progress Caldera Spas Scotland will be providing social media updates at www.calderaspasscotland.co.uk/blog throughout the weekend and the rest of their journey, which is expected to be completed on July 12.
