Inauguration with French swimming champion

Olympic swimming champion and president of the French Olympic Committee’s Athletes’ Commission Fabien Gilot is diving into the inauguration of Piscine Global 2024 this week.

Fabien, who was part of the Organising Committee for the 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games, will be making a special appearance on the first day of the exhibition in Lyon; running from Tuesday, November 19, to Thursday, November 22; which has been organised to incorporate central themes that focus on sustainable development, water management and innovation.

Freestyle swimmer and French relay team captain Fabien won an Olympic Gold Medal in the 4x100m at the 2012 London Olympic Games, after previously achieving European and World Championships Gold Medal glory in Budapest and Dubai. Among his other 27 international medals and Olympic honours are Gold Medal-winning performances in the 2014 European Championships hosted by Berlin, along with the 2015 World Championships in Kazan.

From 2003 Fabien had a successful run of medal-winning performances with the French relay teams and at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games he and his 2015 World Championship-winning teammates combined again in the 4x100m freestyle relay to win the Olympic Silver Medal, after finishing behind the USA team. Piscine Global exhibitors will now have a golden opportunity this week to enhance their profile in the international wet leisure market after Fabien gets the 2024 edition underway from 10:00am tomorrow in the Pool Arena.

For this year’s outing, Piscine Global organisers have revealed that the exhibition has been reinvented, with an immersive, digital format to provide enhanced prominence to new products, while experts from over 100 countries are scheduled to provide their knowledge and product guidance. Hot tub and swim spa manufacturers from Europe, including Superior Wellness, and Wellis, will be joining the bumper list of more than 1,200 companies and brands from all over the world. Among these will be USA brands produced by Watkins Wellness.

New for 2024 is a ‘Startup’s focus’ that will be highlighting innovations in the pool and wellness sector within the Startup Village area.  Among the new launch promotions will be Clean Water Tab, which is being proclaimed as a natural product for water treatment that reduces chlorine consumption by 50 per cent. Another new product on display will be Coconut fibre shade sails, which are produced from 100 per cent coconut fibre to ensure they are both durable and recyclable.

Ahead of the exhibition, it has been revealed that in France private and community swimming pool renovation present a major challenge for the industry. Renovations of swimming pools that are often over thirty year’s old has been classed as is a major economic and environmental issue; which has means professionals in this sector,  as well as architects and local authorities, are having to adapt their approach and integrate and integrate their operating procedures within the current constraints.

It has also been reported that, under the current conditions of climate change and inflation, management of private and community swimming pools is facing unprecedented challenges. Professionals in the sector are having to seek out and adopt innovative sustainable practices to manage these leisure areas in an efficient and adaptable way.
