Rapid testing for superyacht hot tubs

System monitoring company CM Technologies has launched a new test kit for superyacht crews to reduce the risk of Legionnaire’s disease within onboard hot tubs and pools.

CM Technologies (CMT) has proclaimed that the Legionella Field Test product is a breakthrough technology for the rapid detection of Legionella bacteria in marine potable water systems, with the capability for delivering test results in minutes instead of days. The test kit is designed for use with both hot and cold water systems and contains everything required to perform five tests, including sample collection containers and disposable pipettes.

As part of its promotion for the testing product, the German company has revealed that results are easy to read and obtained within 25 minutes.  Other benefits include simple USB data transfer capability to a PC for immediate understanding and response to the water conditions, which help to increase the confidence in Legionella control and reduce the risk of outbreaks and litigation.

CMT Managing Director David Fuhlbruegge has revealed that most superyachts have hot tubs and that the operating water temperatures of between 37° to 40°C can not only be an ideal environment for the superyacht hot tub users, but also Legionella bacteria. The new Legionella Field Test, though, is now providing a solution for superyacht crews to achieve prompt detection and treatment.

“Water quality can change rapidly, especially on superyachts that are constantly moving between different locations and environments,” revealed David,

“Owners need the ability to monitor in real time and not just once or twice a year.”
