Retailing leaders gain prestigious awards boost

Leading hot tub and swim spa retailers have gained a major marketing boost for their showroom services this year after being bestowed with prestigious trade accolades during the 2019 British Pool & Hot Tub Awards.
The annual industry Gala Evening brings together BISHTA (British and Irish Spa and Hot Tub Association) and SPATA (Swimming Pool and Allied Trades Association) in a joint event to highlight the outstanding achievements of their members in the wet leisure industry, by showcasing the best examples of top quality design, construction, installation and innovation.
Coast Spas and Regency Collection retailer Award Leisure and Jacuzzi specialist Outdoor Living joined British manufacturer RotoSpa and Artesian Spas specialist North Spas in the ‘golden accolade’ celebrations after landing top awards in the various categories of the BISHTA Awards.
One of Award Leisure’s brace of Gold awards was the top accolade in the ‘Hot Tubs in a Holiday Setting’ category. The other Gold Award came in the ‘Residential Hot Tubs below £7,000’ category, while an additional Bronze Award was achieved in the ‘Hot Tub Happiness’ category.
RotoSpa was acclaimed for its online presence with a Gold Award in the Best Use of Digital Media category and achieved Gold Award recognition in the ‘Hot Tubs Change Lives’ category.
Outdoor Living, which is extending its Hull-based showroom for the spring season, gained Gold Award recognition for its Leeds showroom, pictured, as well as a Bronze accolade for the Hull site, in the highly-prized and prestigious ‘Showroom of the Year’ category.
Jacuzzi specialist dealership All Weather Leisure gained a brace of Bronze Awards after achieving the Gold Award for the ‘Showroom of the Year’ category last time round during the 2018 ceremony in recognition for its stunning new Cannock-based premises that were launched in 2017.
With a total of seven awards, including Gold, Silver and Bronze accolades, North Spas was clearly the best ‘combined winner’ of the night from this year’s BISHTA Awards ceremony; including a Gold and Bronze Award in the same ‘Residential Hot Tubs £14,000 and Over’ category; as well as a Gold Award in the ‘Hot Tubs Change Lives’ category.
The thriving Artesian Spas specialist has increased its award-winning status in the industry with an impressive haul of BISHTA Awards to build on its recent success from the previous ceremony after gaining Gold Award accolades in the ‘Residential Hot Tubs £7,000 to £14,000’ and ‘Residential Hot Tubs £14,000 and Over’ categories.
Long established Jacuzzi retailer Oyster Pools & Leisure were awarded the ‘Peter Geekie Award for Retail Excellence’, which was sponsored this year by wet leisure product powerhouse and Caldera Spas and Fantasy Spas hot tub distributor Certikin International.
Among the other SPATA Awards stars were Artesian Spas specialist retailer and pool company Cannings H20, which has over 40 models of Artesian Spas in stock including the 2019 WhatSpa? Best Buy Award-winning Nevis 45. The Exeter-based company was awarded the ‘Dick Millward Trophy for the Pool Contractor of the Year’; as well as gaining a bumper haul of SPATA Gold Awards including top spot in the Inground Commercial Spas and Wellness category, as well as golden accolades in the ‘Sustainability’ awards and in the ‘Residential Outdoor Pools £50,000 to under £75,000’ category.
Hot tub and pool product specialist Golden Coast also celebrated Luke Honnoraty being bestowed with the ‘Paul Kite Award for the Pool Star of the Year’.
Presenting the awards on the night was special guest Charlie Matthews, from Wasps Rugby Football Club, which is based at the Ricoh Arena. Charlie’s towering presence as a 6ft 8in lock was a huge feature for the awards recipients.
Rob Malone presented the British Pool and Hot Tub Award ceremony with the award winners announced by BSPF President Will Dando, BISHTA Chairman Pete Grinnall, and SPATA Chairman Richard Carrington with help from this year’s respective award category sponsors.
BISHTA and SPATA Managing Director Chris Hayes highlighted that the ceremony was the ideal occasion to celebrate outstanding achievements in the wet leisure market and to network with friends within the trade.
“The 2019 British Pool & Hot Tub Awards ceremony showcased the fabulous quality of the members involved,” said Chris.
“These awards are an exceptional opportunity to celebrate the outstanding calibre of wet leisure businesses and the business people we have within the British Wet Leisure industry. It was a great opportunity for all participants to catch up with friends and peers which is often difficult to organise without an awards night of this stature.
“Many of the winners from this year’s awards will now have the chance to be shortlisted to compete in the EUSA, European Pool and Spa Awards 2019 with the awards ceremony taking place at Aquanale, in Cologne in November 2019”.
The awards evening takes place during SPATEX, the UK’s largest dedicated Pool, Spa and Wellness Show; an event held annually in the Ericsson Exhibition Hall at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry, that sees companies from across the UK and overseas exhibiting their products and services, along with opportunities to network with colleagues and a broad range of ‘must see’ workshops and seminars running throughout the duration of the show.
The entry period for the 2020 British Pool & Hot Tub Awards will open this year in June and close at the beginning of November 2019. The 2020 Gala Evening during SPATEX will be on January 28, 2020 and bookings will open on November 18, 2019 and close on January 10, 2020.
